Custom Bear

The Bear for Italy is all finished ! I hope she likes it ! This one is made with schlute viscose rather than mohair. I have not distressed the fabric as the customer did not want the vintage look However Schlute Viscose is great for distressing, dyeing and trimming, its really easy to scruff up and create that "worn" look.

Limited Edition for M.E. Association

Hey everyone, I am joining in support of my friends Joshua Lewin , Dominic Jones and Sam Hawker who are running the Robin Hood Marathon on the 30th September to raise awareness for M.E.

"I am 'running' the Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham on 30th September to raise awareness and help sufferers of M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. A friend I have known since I was under a metre tall has been suffering for almost two years now and she still keeps a smile on her face. I know if she was able to, she would do all she could to help others, so I am going run, jog, walk, get her brother to carry me round and raise awareness and some money! So if you can, please spare some money to help me to helps others."

I have a selection of necklaces I will be selling to help raise much needed funds for the M.E. association. Each necklace costs £5 and for every necklace sold I will put £3 straight up onto my Just Giving Page :

You can keep a track of donations here : http://www.justgiving.com/ChelsieAlice

I also have a collection of cards on sale at £2 each , £1 of this will also go straight to the M.E association ( again through my just giving page). Please contact me if you are interested in any of my Limited Edition Charity Products @ chelsiealice@hotmail.co.uk.

Finally, A peek at my Autumn range !!

Also another sneak peek I have been promising for some time now . . .  The collection will be launched in October so I am still in the early stages of making so they are a little rough around the edges . . . .but here is an exclusive look at the pendants I have been working on.

There are plenty of different designs from Stags to mice, owls and foxes , all inspired by the British woodlands. I have already decided I need one of each for myself so I will have to make many more ! They should look similar to the letter pendants once finished to give you an idea of what to expect.

Ceramic drawing tutorial :

Finally the tutorial I have been promising , I have finally finished my design on my "tea for one" set  and I have broken the steps down so it should be fairly simple to follow.

What you will need : your ceramic item you would like to draw on, carbon paper, A ceramic pen (I used Porcelaine 150 in black 0.7) an image you would like to use and some tape.
Note: using a flatter surface for your first time may prove much easier.

Step 1: stick your image to the carbon paper and cut off the excess . . .  you can draw directly onto the ceramic with the pen (skip to step 4) however I find it much easier to have a guideline and this is what the carbon paper creates. Also it wipes off without leaving any trace on the mug/ teapot.

Step 2: stick the carbon paper with your image onto the mug/ teapot , make sure your image is sitting flat. Draw round your image with a fine pen .

Step 3: peel of the carbon paper , you should be left with a faint outline of the image you have just traced.

Step 4: now using your pen draw onto your object, with the porcelain pens I find doing a single layer gives a crisper line so try and keep the flow of the ink steady by adding slight pressure when drawing.

Step 5 : once the ink has dried, wipe off the carbon residue with a dry cloth.

Step 6: Leave the drawing to dry and set for up to 72 hours then place in the oven.

Step 7: Once your item is in the oven put your oven on its maximum temperature , leave for 30 minutes. Doing this will set the ink and make your item safe to wash.

Step 8: turn your oven off but leave your item inside . .  this will allow your object to cool down slowly and avoid cracking under the pressure.

Give your item a thorough clean and then show it off to all your friends !

Cake stand . . .

Sneak peek at my cake stand I have been working on . . .

And in other news I should be meeting with focus gallery in Nottingham this week to discuss the potential stocking of my bears .  . very exciting new I shall keep you updated on how things turn out ! Wish me luck !!
